"Alliant Powders continues a long and proud tradition of producing America's best and most popular smokeless powders. Alliant's origins as a gunpowder manufacturer can be traced back more than 125 years to the DuPont Company whose leadership position in the explosives industry is legendary. DuPont's divestiture in 1912 created the Hercules Power Company, as an independent entity, and eventually resulted in Alliant becoming America's premier gunpowder manufacturer." Alliant 2400
Alliant produces and markets a wide variety of powders suitable for just about every conceivable use a home reloader could have from handguns to rifles to shotguns. I've been using powders made first under the Hercules and later the Alliant name for about as long as I've been reloading ammo and continue to do so today. Reloader 7
Awhile back I asked for and received samples of Alliant powders RE 7, RE 19, RE 22 and 2400. Since then I have been using them in a variety of gun and TC barrel projects. I'll not try to list specific loads here as it would just duplicate the listings with the guns and barrels tested. Some of these have proven to be the premiere powder in the various guns and barrels with specific bullets. All guns and all barrels are unique and what they prefer to be fed is going to vary. What is best for mine might not be best in yours but day in and day out all of these are solid choices to select from. For many years H2400 was THE powder of choice for myself and my now deceased best friend Billy Doss for use in our handguns. It is still as good a choice as any for magnum handguns and especially in the .357 Mag is the one I reach for without even thinking. In the .44 magnum it was the only powder we used during our metallic silhouette shooting days. Reloader 19
Reloader 22
I found RL19 and RL22 excellent in the Rem. 700 LSS .30-06 rifle tests. RL7 is also finding good use in several of my projects. Alliant powders are good stuff. I use them and I recommend them in many applications. If you haven't tried them you should. They get a thumbs up Approval. Visit the Alliant Powder Co. web site by clicking on the name. |
