Description of Product
Winchester 30-06 Springfield 168 gr. Supreme® Ballistic
Silvertip™ and 30-06 Springfield 150 gr. Supreme® Power-Point
Plus®

Winchester provided me with one box each of their Supreme
.30-06 168 grain Ballistic Silvertip and 150 grain Power
Point Plus ammo for testing with the Remington Model 700 LSS
Mtn. Rifle.

Testing was performed by firing a series of 3 shot groups at
100 yards using the above stated rifle mounted with a Leupold
Vari-X III 2.5-8x36 scope. Results are listed below:

30-06 Springfield 168 gr. Supreme® Ballistic Silvertip™

This one is rated by the factory at a muzzle velocity of 2790
fps. In the test rifle's 22" barrel actual velocity as
measured by an Oehler Model 35P was 2704 fps 12' from the
muzzle. I'd say that's pretty close since the factories
usually use 26" barrels for their data. Groups averaged 2.3"
in the test rifle.

30-06 Springfield 150 gr. Supreme® Power-Point Plus®

This one is rated by the factory at a muzzle velocity of 3050
fps. In the test rifle's 22" barrel actual velocity as
measured by an Oehler Model 35P was 3040 fps 12' from the
muzzle. I'd say that's mighty close since the factories
usually use 26" barrels for their data. Groups averaged 2.1"
in the test rifle.

Winchester offers and extensive line up of .30-06 ammo
consisting of 16 different loads as of the time of this
posting on 06-15-01 according to the search I did of their
