I placed these mineral supplements in a spot near a trail
regularly used by deer on a piece of private land I have
permission to hunt. The products were placed just after the
end of hunting season and maintained during the spring,
summer and fall periods when the deer most need the
supplements. The bucks can certainly use the extra help for
rack development and the does to help insure healthy fawns as
the land is pretty poor ground and minerals needed are
definitely lacking there. Now I guess in one season there is
no way to truly say exactly how much boost or benefit the
animals derived from the supplements as that just isn't
really time to assess the change in body weights or rack
sizes. I feel my best measure at this time is the use by the
deer and that was heavy. The following photo shows the spot
where the supplements were placed next to an old stump and
you can clearly see the hole they have eaten right into the
ground getting to the minerals as the leached into the ground
there. As can be seen in the photo below the deer ate it up.
This is a somewhat unscientific evaluation but the deer herd
on the place does seem a bit more healthy this year. The
fawns seen are doing well and look big and healthy. The does
dropped the fawns on time and fawn survival was great
especially considering the drought conditions we experienced
this summer and fall. The racks on the bucks are really
looking good, as good as any year since I've hunted the
property even tho I've seen fewer bucks than normal this year
which I attribute to the drought conditions. I give these products
the Graybeard Seal of Approval and a thumbs up.
I plan to continue to use these products in our deer
management plan on this property and perhaps in the future
I'll be able to make a more scientific evaluation of the real
benefits they have shown us.
